Cops, Kids, and Toys
Cops, Kids & Toys is a program that
began in the early 1980s to help families who were unable to provide
holiday gifts for their children. The first year the program helped four
families. The program continues with that same goal and has been able
to help more families in Tompkins County over the years. In 2003 toys
were delivered to 753 families.
Every year since
the beginning the program has grown. Several years the volunteers
thought that they were going to fall short, but the Tompkins County
community has always come through. Cops, Kids & Toys volunteers work
throughout the year raising funds. You may have seen them
collecting returnable bottles and cans at the Grass Roots Festival or
helping at the Cornell Dump and Run Sale.
We could never do it with out the
support of the community.
Bicycle Rodeo
A rodeo is a skills event for teaching youth
basic bicycle handling skills. Provides an opportunity for the
participants to practice their bike handling skills and experience
traffic situations they are likely to find in their community.
